NPA Announces New Prices for Petroleum Products

By: Deborah Amewoyi

The National Petroleum Authority has announced new minimum pricing thresholds for oil marketing companies (petrol, diesel, and LPG) in Ghana.

This decision is intended to protect local businesses from unsustainable competition and ensure that fuel providers can cover their operational costs.

From February 16 to 28, the price floor for these petroleum products will be GHȼ12.56 for petrol and GHȼ13.45 for diesel per litre, while liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will be set at GHS 14.26 per kilogram.

The newly established price floors by the NPA will help uphold quality standards in the fuel supply chain, as companies won’t feel the need to compromise on quality just to lower prices.

It’s important to note that the enforcement of these minimum pricing floors will not affect the premiums charged by Distribution and Export Companies (BIDECs), nor the marketing and dealer margins of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), LPG Marketing Companies (LPGMCs), or the International Oil Trading Companies (IOTCs) operating in the sector.
