NPP Denies Hiring Ukrainian Company to Spread Lies About President Mahama.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it has not hired any Ukrainian company to run a smear campaign against President John Dramani Mahama during the 2024 elections.

This comes after a news story published on AllAfrica.com claimed that a Ukrainian PR company called Brandcom asked the NPP for $280,000 to run an online campaign against President Mahama.

In a statement, the NPP called the report false, baseless, and damaging. The party said it has never worked with Brandcom or any other foreign company to spread lies or create fake social media pages.

“The NPP never told any company to create fake accounts or spread bad information about anyone during the 2024 elections or any other time,” the statement said.

The NPP explained that it always runs its campaigns based on truth, good policies, and respect for democracy. The party believes the story is an attempt to destroy its image and create public mistrust.

The NPP is asking for the story to be taken down immediately and says it may take legal action against Brandcom and any media house that publishes or shares the false information.

“We are focused on helping Ghana grow through honest and responsible leadership,” the NPP added. The party also asked the media and the public to be careful of fake news, especially from unknown sources.

The statement was signed by the NPP’s National Communications Directorate and posted on the party’s website.
