NPP Grassroots in Ho Rally Behind Bryan Acheampong.

Prior to the declaration of the next NPP presidential primaries on January 31, 2026, different sections of party faithfuls within one of Ghana’s largest political party, the New Patriotic Party have declared their intentions to contest for the presidential candidacy seat in the next election year.

Amongst these individuals who have declared their intentions to contest is former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong. To this end, grassroot party faithfuls in the Volta region – Ho have declared their intentions to rally behind Dr. Acheampong in his candidacy bid.

In a press conference held yesterday, June 27, the group of concerned NPP grassroot party executives read a statement expressing their unwavering support to the politician. Ho Central Constituency Women Organizer, Thelma Christabel Adzimah reading the statement on behalf of the remaining executives underscored Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s unique quality as a unifier and a listener.

“We are not just endorsing a candidate; we are rallying behind a vision – a vision that prioritises inclusion, party unity, and grassroots empowerment…Hon. Bryan Acheampong embodies this vision. He listens. He engages. He delivers.” she read.

The group again touched on the politician’s zeal for a human centered approach in leadership. The statement underscored the fact that through out Dr. Acheampong’s leadership roles in various spaces, he prioritizes initiatives that would be to the benefit of the masses rather than a defined section of people.

The group of about 300 party executives with voting right added up that the politician that does not focus his strength on “Accra boardrooms” but makes sure he decentralizes his initiatives to party grassroots presenting every individual with an equal opportunity.

The Ho NPP executives chastising some of the potential candidates who have declared their intentions to contest in the upcoming primaries said “Let no one confuse political visibility with grassroots acceptability, True legitimacy comes from those who mobilise at dawn, knock on doors, and keep the party running in all corners of the country.

The group believes Dr. Bryan Acheampong is their perfect candidate to lead the NPP into winning the 2028 general elections.

Notably, since the declaration of the January 31 date for the conduction of NPP presidential primaries, notable personalities have declared and renewed their interest to contest for the bid. Aside Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Former vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has also announced his intention. The remaining aspirants are former MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong and the former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.

Tensions have begun to brew within the party as party faithfuls from different sections rally behind their preferred candidate coupled with aspirants throwing jabs at each other in order to appeal to the electorates.

As a result, analysts and some notable leaders within the NPP have advised that the party unites during this period of choosing a lleader for the party. This appeal is in order to win the general December 2028 elections. Minority leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin addressing the issue advised that party members settle disputes internally rather than washing the party’s dirty linen in public.

As January 31 draws nearer each passing day, aspirantd are poised with spreading out campaign messages across the country in order to win the flagbearship race.
