The North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has raised concerns over a questionable deal involving the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) and Virtual Security Africa. According to Mr. Ablakwa, the ADB board approved a $750,000 (approximately GHS12 million) electronic servicing agreement with Virtual Security Africa just three days ago.
However, negotiations with the vendor are reportedly incomplete, and the agreement is still in draft form. The MP alleges that the ADB is under intense political pressure to make full payment today – December 27 without undergoing standard auditing procedures.
This has raised concerns about the lack of due diligence and accountability in the process. Mr. Ablakwa’s revelation comes amid a surge in last-minute contract approvals and rushed payments ahead of the January 7, 2025, government transition.
The President-elect’s Transition Team has cautioned against such last-minute financial commitments. The MP warned that public officials who authorize such “dubious transactions” will face repercussions under the incoming administration. The development has sparked public outcry, with many calling for immediate investigations and accountability.
