The La District Court has announced that the police have submitted a duplicate docket concerning the O’Reilly Senior High School murder case to the Attorney General’s office for review and legal advice.

Chief Inspector Paul Osei Adjei informed the court that he instructed the case investigator to monitor the progress of the matter. This submission is part of standard procedures to seek guidance from the AG’s office on how to proceed with the case.

Magistrate Adwoa Benaso Asumadu-Sakyi took the opportunity to explain the legal processes to the deceased student’s family, urging them to stay involved in the ongoing case.

The accused, Godwin Mawuli, has been remanded in custody and is set to reappear before the court on October 21, 2024. Mawuli faces charges related to the murder of Edwards Borketey Sackey, a final-year General Arts student at O’Reilly School. The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over which of their parents was wealthier.

Although Mawuli has been provisionally charged with murder, his plea has not yet been taken by the court.
