Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has shown interested in witnessing the award winning Ghanaian rapper Sakordie’s 2025 rapperholic concert which has been slated for September this year in Kumasi.
The Asantehene made this remark during a courtesy call paid by Sarkodie and his management to the Manhyia palace. The artist and his team’s visit to the palace was to officially inform the Asantehene about the concert slated for September in Kumasi and to officially request for his blessings.
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II said; “they don’t allow me to go out often but when the date is almost due, remind me so I can go watch the concert myself”
Sarkodie, during the visit filled the King in on how the annual concert came into being and how it has being faring over the years since 2012. “12 years ago, I released an album called Rapperholic, and it has performed well. It was well received by many, so I institutionalised it as an annual celebration” he narrated further acknowledging that this will be the second time the event will be held in the Ashanti Region – Kumasi.
The king in return admonished the artist and his team to stay clear from unhealthy competition but rather focus on activities that will grow and elevate the music brand.
This year’s rapperholic concert themed “the homecoming” will be held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on September 27.
Tickets will be out on Friday, July 25 for purchases against the September concert.
