The Ministry of Education has announced that over 564,000 candidates have successfully secured placement into Senior High Schools and Technical Institutes across the country through the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
According to a statement issued by the Ministry, a total of 590,390 qualified candidates were eligible for placement this year, with 564,000 already placed nationwide. The Ministry noted that the CSSPS Resolution Centre, which began operations on Friday, September 18, 2025, has been actively addressing placement-related concerns from parents, guardians, and candidates.
Since its opening, the Centre has received 1,358 cases, the majority involving requests for school and residence changes.
Breakdown of Issues Reported:
Change of School (1,100 cases): About 76% of requests involve movement from Category C and B schools to Category A schools. Another 14% of requests are from Category B to B schools, and 10% from C to C. The Ministry explained that while it values the aspirations of parents and students for Category A schools, placement is largely determined by raw scores, vacancies, and competition levels. This means that even high-performing students may not always secure their first-choice schools if competition is high.
Change of Residence: Normally, candidates’ residence placements cannot be altered. However, special concessions are considered for health-related issues or family relocation cases.
No Placement: For students who were not automatically placed, the Ministry encouraged the use of the self-placement option. So far, about 70% of such students have been successfully placed through this process.
Change of Programme: The Secretariat is also handling requests from students who wish to switch their academic programmes.
The Ministry reassured parents, guardians, and students that all genuine concerns are being carefully reviewed to ensure fairness and transparency. It added that data for re-entry students is also being processed to facilitate their placement.
The Ministry of Education, through the CSSPS Secretariat, has pledged to continue working diligently to ensure a smooth placement exercise for all candidates.
