John Dramani Mahama, Ghana’s President-elect, has pledged to prioritize appointing competent and humble individuals in his upcoming administration.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service at the Assemblies of God Ringway Gospel Center in Accra on Sunday, December 15, 2024, he addressed the growing interest in government positions. “I’ve received countless messages and visits from people seeking appointments. I want to make it clear—this will not be an easy task. If you’re not ready to serve Ghanaians with diligence, humility, and modesty, don’t bother coming forward,” Mahama stated.

The President-elect also took a critical stance on the arrogance and self-interest often exhibited by political leaders, himself included, when entrusted with power. He underscored the importance of democracy and reminded citizens of their significant role in holding leaders accountable.

Expressing gratitude for his electoral victory, Mahama thanked God, voters, and key supporters. He acknowledged that while winning the election was an achievement, the real work lies ahead. “The easy part is over; the hard work starts now,” he concluded.
