President John Dramani Mahama has embarked on a working visit to the Western Region, where he inspected key health infrastructure projects and launched a major road expansion initiative aimed at improving transportation and boosting economic growth.
During his visit, President Mahama toured the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and the Public Health Reference Laboratory to assess ongoing operations and the state of facilities. He also inspected the abandoned site of the 250-bed Western Region Hospital at Apemanim, a project that has been left incomplete since 2023.
Addressing stakeholders and residents, President Mahama reaffirmed his government’s commitment to reviving stalled projects across the country, particularly in the health and infrastructure sectors. He emphasized that his administration would ensure that unfinished projects are completed to serve their intended purpose and improve the lives of citizens.
As part of his visit, President Mahama also cut the sod for the dualization of the Cape Coast–Takoradi–Kojokrom road, a transformative infrastructure project expected to enhance transportation efficiency, reduce travel time, and improve road safety. The project is further anticipated to stimulate regional economic growth by facilitating trade and industrial activities along the western corridor.
The President noted that the Western Region plays a vital role in Ghana’s economic development, given its contribution to mining, oil, agriculture, and port operations. He assured residents that his government remains dedicated to promoting equitable development across all regions through sustained investment in critical infrastructure.
This visit forms part of President Mahama’s broader agenda to strengthen regional development, improve healthcare delivery, and modernize Ghana’s road network, ensuring that all regions benefit from inclusive national growth.
