Remove Kotoka’s Name From Accra International Air – Democracy Hub and CPP Sues.

In a joint release issued on Monday, February 24, 2025 pressure group Democracy hub and the Conventions Peoples Party (CPP) has called on Ghanaian to back their lawsuit at the supreme Court of Ghana over removal of ‘Kotoka’ from Ghana’s International Airport.

The release identifies its call as a significant move to correct the historical injustices made during the early days of post independence and to restore the country to a democratic governance.

Additionally, the group explained that retaining Luietenant -general Emmanuel Kwasi Kotoka’s name on the International Airport contradicts Ghana’s commitment to democracy. “the continuous veneration of lieutenant-general Emmanuel Kwasi Kotoka, the man whose actions help overthrow Ghana’s 1960 constitution and derail the country’s democratic progress is an unacceptable contradiction” It read.

Democracy Hub and the CPP reiterates that this lawsuit on the removal of the Kotoka name from the airport was based on rigorous legal research.

The group has urged all Ghanaians, Civil Society Organisations, youth activists and defenders of democracy to rally behind this course to serve as a commitment to the rule of law.
