School Feeding Caterers Pleads for Reinstatement of Contract.

President of the School Feeding Caterers Association, Nana Otu Sakyi – Amo has called on the government to reinstate their contracts which was terminated by the Government on Friday, May 2 2025.

During a media interaction with channel one TV, the president of the Caterers Association indicated that their contract was supposed to be due in August, hence the immediate suspension of their contract alters president Mahama’s campaign promise to the school feeding caterers.

She added that the caterers, have already purchased food stuffs against the third term of the 2024/2025 academic year despite arrears owed them by the government. She expressed worry concerning repayment of loans that were taken to purchase these foods stuffs for the next academic term.

The government in a release on Friday May 2 terminated contracts of school feeding caterers nationwide with immediate effect. “Accordingly no existing caterer on program should cook for the third term of the 2024/2025 academic year” the release stated.

However, the release assured the caterers that existing arrears owed them for the previous term will be paid in due course.

Additionally, the release concluded that the termination of current contracts is due to ongoing restructuring activities by the Ghana School Feeding Programme secretariat.

It promised to announce modalities for recruitment of new caterers onto the programme in due course.
