Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale is claiming a significant role in curbing crime among the nation’s youth, comparing his influence to that of the police.
In a passionate Facebook post on May 27, 2025, the outspoken musician declared that his presence and message have steered many young people away from criminal paths. He described himself as a force for peace and discipline, insisting that without him, Ghana’s crime rate would be much higher.
“If it wasn’t for Shatta Wale, the crime rate in Ghana would be out of control,” he wrote.
The self-proclaimed “Dancehall King” credited his transformation and mentorship under his “Godfathers” as key factors in his efforts to inspire youth. According to him, these influences helped shape the message he now spreads — one that encourages young people to live lawful, productive lives.
Drawing a bold parallel, Shatta Wale said, “We don’t support crime; we fight and eliminate it just like the Police do.”
Addressing critics who often misunderstand his message, he added: “Many of you keep missing the point when Shatta speaks, and that’s because you’ve been in the dark for too long, lol.”
Known for his controversial statements and dedicated fanbase, Shatta Wale continues to frame himself not just as an entertainer, but as a social force working to uplift and influence Ghana’s streets.
