“She Gave Me Money, But the Insults Were Too Much” — Former Member Shares Why She Left Nana Agradaa’s Heaven Way Church.

A former member of Heaven Way Church, led by controversial evangelist and former fetish priestess Nana Agradaa, has spoken out about her decision to leave the church despite receiving personal support and financial assistance from the leader.

In an emotional interview on Asaase Pa 107.3 FM, the unidentified woman revealed that while Nana Agradaa known in private life as Patricia Asieduaa was kind and generous to her during her time in the church, the social stigma and public ridicule attached to the congregation became unbearable.

According to the former member, she joined the church just two weeks after its founding and remained a loyal member for three years. However, for the past three months, she has stopped attending services entirely.

“Nana Agradaa was very good to me. She always gave me money whenever I went to church. When my children were sick, she paid for their medical bills. I can’t say she ever treated me badly. But the public insults were too much to bear,” she explained.

The woman recounted numerous instances of embarrassment and confrontation in public spaces simply for being associated with the church. She said people frequently mocked her and other members, questioning their intelligence and accusing them of being in the church solely for financial gain.

“When we boarded public transport and alighted at the church premises, people would shout at us, saying we only go there because we’re hungry or need money from Agradaa. I always had to defend myself. It was so frustrating,” she said.

The former member added that while she was deeply grateful for the help she received from Nana Agradaa, the growing criticism from society and media personalities became too overwhelming. The breaking point came when a popular radio presenter referred to members of the church as “unintelligent,” a remark that left her hurt and humiliated.

“That was the last straw. I realized I had to protect my dignity. I didn’t want to be seen as someone who couldn’t think for herself. Even though she helped me, I had to step away,” she stated.

Her revelations shed light on the challenges faced by members of the Heaven Way Church, particularly in dealing with public perception and media scrutiny. Nana Agradaa, who transitioned from a fetish priestess to a Christian evangelist, has remained a controversial figure in Ghana’s religious landscape, often drawing both support and criticism for her style of ministry.

While some continue to stand by her and praise her charitable works, others view her transformation with skepticism, often questioning her motives and past practices.

The former member’s story reflects the complex emotional and social realities faced by followers of high-profile religious figures, especially when those figures are surrounded by controversy.

Despite stepping away from the congregation, the woman emphasized that she holds no grudges against Nana Agradaa and continues to be grateful for the support she once received. However, she insists her decision to leave was necessary for her peace of mind and self-respect.
