Veteran Ghanaian artiste and the “Grandpapa of Hiplife,” Reggie Rockstone, has weighed in on the ongoing discussions surrounding the welfare of legendary musician Okomfour Kwadee.

Kwadee, who has faced mental health struggles for years, became a topic of concern recently after a video of him performing shirtless surfaced online. The video sparked an outcry from fans, social media users, and some industry players, who criticized institutions such as the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) for allegedly neglecting the artist.

However, Reggie Rockstone, in a video shared on Instagram, called out critics for their one-sided view of the issue. He emphasized that supporting Kwadee should not fall solely on the music industry but should be a collective effort driven by humanity.

“I’ve seen some talk on Twitter and, you know, a little bit over here and there. And it feels like the public seems to be pointing their finger at the music industry, saying that the industry has to do something for him and all that. Everybody seems to be pointing the finger. And I just started to get irritated by this,” Reggie expressed.

He went on to challenge the critics, stating, “The public needs somebody to point a finger at. And of course, yeah, he is a comrade musically. I get it. But you, the public, the ones pointing the fingers—what are you doing besides pointing the finger and talking?”

Reggie reminded the public of Kwadee’s legacy and the joy his music brought to countless fans. He questioned why those who benefited from Kwadee’s artistry over the years are not as actively involved in supporting him as they are in criticizing the industry.

“For years and years, this man made beautiful music for you. If anybody should be as emotional as y’all are acting, it should be you,” he stated.

According to Reggie, Kwadee’s situation is not one that can be addressed by blame or fragmented efforts. Instead, he called for a holistic approach to providing support, emphasizing that humanity, compassion, and a united front should drive the intervention.

Kwadee remains one of Ghana’s most celebrated musical icons, with timeless hits that resonate with many. His struggles have become a rallying point for conversations about mental health, artist welfare, and the role of society in supporting public figures beyond their peak.

Reggie Rockstone’s message serves as a wake-up call for all Ghanaians to step beyond criticism and take tangible action to support Kwadee and others in similar situations. Compassion, after all, should not be confined to an industry—it is the responsibility of every individual.
