Stakeholders in Ghana’s oil and gas sector have commended Springfield Exploration and Production Limited (SEP), the country’s only indigenous upstream energy company, for its relentless investment and job creation efforts.
At a recent forum, Chief Fishermen from the Western Region’s coastal districts and institutional role players praised Springfield’s consistency and resilience in the face of industry challenges.
They acknowledged the company’s ability to achieve great feats with necessary support.
Springfield has invested over US$60 million in its ongoing Well-Test and Appraisal of the Afina-1x discovery at the West Cape Three Points Block 2 (WCTP 2).
The operation, utilizing the Northern Oceans’ Deep Sea Bollsta Rig, aims to unlock Ghana’s crude oil resources.
Nana Kweku Amosa, a Fisherman from Jomoro District, lauded Springfield’s CEO, Kevin Okyere, for his visionary leadership and courage in venturing into the industry.
Mr Amosa emphasized the need for collective support to ensure Springfield’s success, stressing that Ghana requires more resources for development.
Springfield’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Kennedy Noonoo, presented the work program to stakeholders, assuring that the rig would operate within the stipulated time frame.
Officials from GNPC, Petroleum Commission, Fisheries Commission, Environmental Protection Agency, Marine Police Unit, and Ghana Navy attended the forum to address concerns and share advice.
The six-week campaign is projected to be a success, building on Springfield’s previous achievements in drilling the Afina Well.
Local and international operators are participating in the campaign, demonstrating the company’s commitment to Ghana’s energy sector growth.
