“Talent Alone Isn’t Enough Anymore” – Sherifa Gunu on Ghanaian Music.

Ghanaian female musician, Sherifa Gunu has added her voice to growing integration of social media into the Ghanaian music industry.

During a recent media interaction with Graphic Showbiz, the local music singer touched on the quests of female artists in promoting nudity accross various social media platforms in search of recognition in the music space.

The artist lamented on the negative pressure social media, particularly Tiktok poses to female colleagues in the ghanaian music industry. She noted that female musicians with raw but incredible talents are being overshadowed by artists with revealing contents.

Analyzing the dual impact of social media platforms, Sherifa Gunu describes it as “a blessing and a curse.” she cited that ” Even if you’re the most talented artiste, you wont get noticed unless you’re half naked on TicTock.”

“Sadly talent alone isn’t enough anymore” she concluded on her remark.

Despite this setback, the artiste has revealed that she remains consistent to producing real contents and is not moved by social media pressures.

Sherifa Gunu’s opinion is a wakeup call to female content creators in the Ghanaian music industry. The quest for clicks on various social media platforms have rapidly increased the promotion and normalization of nudity contents all over the internet.

Due to this trend, minors are exposed to inappropriate contents with various scenes of nudity and the use of vulgar languages which counters on their morality at a tender age.

The musician’s comments further serves as a motivation to other incredible female singers out there who promote their creative pieces with raw talents rather than female Objectification.
