A fierce gun battle between the police and suspected armed robbers at the Tema Industrial Area on Sunday night, July 21, 2025, ended with three robbers fatally shot by officers from the Kpone District Police Command.

According to a police statement issued and signed by ASP Dede Dzakpasu, the confrontation followed a distress call received about a gang of approximately ten armed men who had forcefully broken into a warehouse within the industrial enclave. Responding swiftly, officers from the Tema Regional Command moved to the scene and engaged the assailants in a shootout.

Three of the suspects were gunned down during the exchange, while the remaining members of the gang fled the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that some of the escapees may have sustained gunshot wounds.

A search at the scene led to the recovery of a foreign pistol, a locally fabricated double-barrelled pistol loaded with two rounds, and eleven live BB rounds of ammunition. The bodies of the deceased have since been deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue in Accra for identification and autopsy.

The Ghana Police Service is urging the general public, especially residents within the Kpone and Tema environs, to report any suspicious individuals with gunshot injuries. Such information, the police emphasized, could be crucial in locating and apprehending the remaining suspects.

The officers of the Kpone District Command have received commendation from both the regional police leadership and members of the public for their swift response and professionalism in containing the threat. Meanwhile, investigations continue as the police intensify efforts to arrest the fleeing robbers.
