The Union of Trainee Nurses and Midwives, Ghana (UTNMG), has strongly condemned the inhumane attack on Fred Odum, a driver at the Adaklu District Assembly in the Volta Region.

The victim was brutally assaulted by a group of men who suspected him of being a thief.

The attack, which occurred in a mechanic shop in Ho, left Mr. Odum severely injured, with damage to his reproductive organs. He was forced to drink dirty engine oil, tied to the rear of a vehicle, and dragged on the tarred road for about 500 meters before being dumped.

The UTNMG has urged the police to speed up investigations and prosecution of the perpetrators.

The association’s president, Agbeti Robert Immortal, called on the Ghana Police Service to ensure justice for the victim and his family.

The UTNMG also entreated the Adaklu District Assembly to support and protect the victim and his family.

The association suggested that the Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service provide psychological and medical support to the victim and his family.

The suspects, Patrick Kwame Agbesi, Abraham Kwame Atidama, Atsu Adzasu, and Prophet Johnson Tagoe, must be held accountable for their actions.

The UTNMG believes that such acts of violence and brutality have no place in our society and must be condemned in no uncertain terms.

As future healthcare professionals, the UTNMG is committed to upholding human dignity and promoting a culture of care and compassion. The association demands justice for Fred and calls on all stakeholders to join in condemning this heinous act.
