The University of Ghana, in a decisive move to reinforce academic standards and institutional discipline, has taken action against over 100 students involved in various forms of misconduct, including examination malpractice and disorderly conduct.

The university’s Disciplinary Committee, following a series of investigations and hearings, recommended sanctions that have now led to the suspension of 14 students for a period of two academic years.

These students, found guilty of serious violations of the university’s code of conduct, are now barred from all academic and extracurricular participation during their suspension.

Separately, 97 students were penalized for involvement in examination malpractice. The university stated that these sanctions followed due process and were issued only after the affected students were given the opportunity to respond during formal disciplinary hearings.

Two additional students received written reprimands for inappropriate behaviour, though their infractions did not warrant suspension.

The university reiterated its commitment to upholding academic integrity and fostering a disciplined learning environment. “We remain committed to safeguarding the values that define the University of Ghana—integrity, excellence, and accountability,” the statement read.

This wave of disciplinary actions, according to the management of the university, signals a broader institutional effort to deter misconduct and preserve the credibility of the university’s academic processes.
