The Ghanaian music fraternity and fans across the nation are in shock following the sudden demise of renowned highlife musician, Dada Kwaku Duah, popularly known as Dada KD. The tragic news, which was broke Saturday evening , has left a void in the hearts of many who revered his soulful melodies and poignant lyrics.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on joy prime, King Pee, the manager of Dada KD, recounted the harrowing details surrounding the artist’s untimely death. According to him, the highlife legend was not battling any known illness prior to his passing. “Dada KD wasn’t sick,” he stressed, dispelling any rumors of a prolonged ailment.
The musician’s househelp is said to have found him lying unconscious on the floor of his residence. Alarmed by the scene, she quickly arranged for a private taxi to rush him to the nearest hospital. Upon arrival, medical personnel immediately placed him on oxygen in an effort to revive him. Sadly, within just 5 to 10 minutes of being admitted, Dada KD was pronounced dead.

The news has sent shockwaves across the country, with fans, colleagues, and industry stakeholders pouring out tributes and sharing fond memories of the late musician. Known for timeless classics such as Somu Gye, Fatia Fata Nkrumah, and Odo Da Baabi, Dada KD was a household name whose influence transcended generations.
Many describe his passing as not only a loss to music lovers but also a blow to the preservation and evolution of Ghanaian highlife music. His smooth voice, lyrical depth, and cultural authenticity made him a standout figure in the genre.
As the country mourns this irreplaceable talent, calls have intensified for a state recognition of his contribution to Ghanaian arts and culture. Arrangements for his funeral and memorial services are yet to be announced by the family.
Dada KD may be gone, but his music, spirit, and legacy will continue to echo through the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
