Two police officers, Lance Corporal Philimon Agbevem and Lance Corporal Peter Gbadagbo, have been placed on interdiction following allegations of extortion and misconduct.

A video shared on social media showed a motor pillion rider accusing the officers of torturing him and withdrawing GHS 3,820 from his mobile money wallet. Despite reporting the incident to the Cantonments Police Station, no action was taken, prompting the rider to call for a thorough investigation.

The Ghana Police Service responded swiftly by interdicting the officers on August 9, 2024, and assuring the public that they will face due legal processes. The service reaffirmed its commitment to upholding justice and addressing misconduct within its ranks.

“We would like to assure the public that they will be put through the due process of the law.”

The case is currently under investigation, with the two officers cooperating with inquiries. The police service has urged the public to remain confident in its efforts to maintain transparency and accountability, ensuring that justice is served.
