The Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, has commended the government for the construction of key road infrastructure in the Bono Region under the Big Push Programme, describing the initiative as timely and critical to the region’s development.
Speaking during an official working visit by the Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Ahmed Ibrahim, to the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, the revered traditional ruler acknowledged the positive impact of the ongoing road projects on economic activity, transportation, and social cohesion within the region.

According to Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, improved road networks are vital to unlocking the full economic potential of the Bono area, particularly in agriculture, trade, and cross-border commerce. He noted that the government’s commitment under the Big Push Programme demonstrates a clear recognition of infrastructure as a catalyst for sustainable development.

However, the Dormaahene used the occasion to make an urgent appeal to the Local Government Minister to fast-track the construction of the Berekum–Sampa Road Project. He stressed that the road remains one of the most strategic routes in the region, linking several communities and facilitating movement between Ghana and neighbouring Côte d’Ivoire.

“The Berekum–Sampa road is not just a regional road; it is an economic lifeline,” the Dormaahene emphasized, adding that its poor condition continues to hinder trade, increase travel time, and pose safety risks to motorists and residents.
In response, Minister Ahmed Ibrahim assured the chiefs and people of Bono of the government’s commitment to addressing critical infrastructure needs across the region. He indicated that concerns raised by traditional authorities would be communicated to the appropriate agencies for the necessary action.

The visit reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between government and traditional leaders in advancing development, with both sides agreeing that accelerated infrastructure delivery remains key to improving livelihoods and boosting regional growth.
