Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company Limited (NAFCO), Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, has been arrested by law enforcement officers at the Accra International Airport over an alleged attempt to unlawfully access funds in a frozen bank account.
Mr. Aludiba, who is currently standing trial alongside his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni, on charges of stealing and causing financial loss to the Republic, had earlier been granted permission by the High Court to travel to the United Kingdom for a short stay.
However, in a statement shared on Saturday, July 5, 2026, Deputy Attorney-General, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, disclosed that the former NAFCO CEO was arrested after allegedly attempting to use false means to withdraw funds from his frozen Republic Bank account on Thursday.
According to the Deputy Attorney-General, the alleged incident prompted law enforcement authorities to apprehend Mr. Aludiba at the airport before his departure.
Dr. Srem-Sai further announced that the Attorney-General’s Office will file an application before the court on Monday seeking a review of the earlier order that granted Mr. Aludiba permission to travel outside the country.
Mr. Aludiba and his wife remain before the High Court, where they are facing charges related to the alleged theft and causing financial loss to the Republic. The latest development is expected to influence the ongoing legal proceedings as the prosecution seeks to reassess the conditions under which the former NAFCO boss was granted leave to travel.
The Attorney-General’s application is expected to be heard in court in the coming days.
