The Okuapehene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, has called on the management and staff of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund to remain resolute in their mission of delivering specialised healthcare to all Ghanaians in need.

The paramount chief made the appeal during a visit to the Fund on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, accompanied by members of his royal household. The visit aimed to gain firsthand insight into the institution’s operations while also offering personal encouragement to its Administrator, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, a native of the Akuapem area.

During the engagement, the Okuapehene expressed fatherly concern for the Administrator, taking time to inquire about her journey since assuming office and the challenges she may have encountered. He extended his blessings and words of encouragement to her and the entire team, urging them to remain steadfast in their service.

Interacting with staff and observing ongoing activities, the royal visit was widely described as a strong endorsement of the Fund’s work. It underscored the institution’s growing impact, not only within formal healthcare structures but also across communities, homes, and vulnerable populations nationwide.

In his goodwill message, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III emphasised the importance of dedication, integrity, and purpose in service delivery. He encouraged the team to blend Ghana’s rich traditional values of communal care with forward-looking strategies that ensure equitable access to quality healthcare for all citizens, regardless of their geographic location.

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund, under the leadership of Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, plays a complementary role to the National Health Insurance Scheme by providing support for specialised medical conditions that often fall outside standard coverage.

By the conclusion of the visit, the Fund reported a renewed sense of motivation among its staff. The engagement with the Okuapehene was seen as both a morale boost and a reaffirmation of the institution’s mandate, aligning modern healthcare delivery with longstanding cultural principles of solidarity and national development.

The chief’s message ultimately reinforced a shared vision one where no Ghanaian is denied access to critical healthcare services due to financial or systemic barriers.
