Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has assured Ghanaians that reports claiming Cambodian authorities have ordered Ghanaians to leave the country are completely false.

In a post shared on his social media platforms, the Foreign Affairs Minister clarified that the notice circulating online is fake and should be disregarded.

According to him, Cambodian authorities have confirmed that no such directive has been issued against Ghanaians living in Cambodia. He added that the Cambodian Ministry of Interior has gone a step further by issuing an official press clarification describing the alleged notice as “completely untrue.”

Mr. Ablakwa explained that although the deportation notice is false, some Ghanaians in Cambodia had earlier reached out to Ghanaian authorities requesting evacuation assistance.

He revealed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with Ghana’s High Commission in Malaysia, has already been supporting affected citizens.

“Between March and May this year, we have evacuated 85 Ghanaians from Cambodia. Seventy-six more are being evacuated to complete the exercise,” he stated.

The Minister further emphasized that the welfare and protection of Ghanaians abroad remain a key priority for the government.

His statement comes after the fake notice triggered concern among many Ghanaians on social media, with some questioning the safety and status of Ghanaian nationals currently residing in Cambodia.

Government officials are therefore urging the public to verify information from credible and official sources before sharing such reports online.
