Education Ministry Faces Ultimatum from National Food Suppliers Association

By Emmanuel Amoah

The National Food Suppliers Association has issued a stern warning to the government, threatening to picket at the Ministry of Education premises if their outstanding debt is not settled.

The association claims that the government has failed to pay them for seven months, leading to this drastic measure.

In a statement, the association’s spokesperson, Kwaku Amedume, expressed frustration over the government’s delay in payment, citing it as a deliberate attempt to hinder the National Food Buffer Stock Company’s operations. Amedume emphasized that the association will not back down until their demands are met.

“They have been deducting our money left, right, and center, and when you ask for an explanation they are not willing to give it to you. In my case like this they have deducted almost three thousand cedis, so imagine the others.

“Buffer Stock deducting 3% and 2% and a whole lot. By Monday we will be calling a press conference. We have written a few letters but nothing is working.

“We want the government to pay our money in full. We are planning on serious picketing because it looks like they are bent on taking our monies,” he stated.

The association’s threat to picket at the Ministry of Education premises is a clear indication of their resolve to seek justice. The fate of the National Food Buffer Stock Company and its suppliers hangs in the balance, as they await the government’s response to their ultimatum.
