A new office complex for the Audit Service, valued at GH¢16.4 million, was officially opened in Ho. The construction of the facility was supported by the German government through its development bank, KfW, and completed by the local company Matapo Ltd within 24 months.

The new building features two conference halls, an auditorium, various office units, a pantry, and facilities for people with disabilities.

The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, inaugurated the complex on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

In his speech, delivered on behalf of the President, it was emphasized that the new office complex would enhance the Audit Service’s ability to fulfill its constitutional role in promoting good governance, transparency, accountability, and integrity in the country’s financial management.

The President noted that the government had consistently allocated adequate budgetary resources to the Auditor-General’s office, enabling the completion of several abandoned projects initiated in 2012.

These completed projects include a four-story complex in Kumasi, a three-story regional office in Tamale, and district offices in Agona, Winneba, Tumu, and Kete Krachi, all of which are now operational.

Additionally, renovations have been completed on previously uninhabitable buildings in Obuasi, Agona Swedru, Denu, and Akropong. President Akufo-Addo commended the Auditor-General, the Board of the Ghana Audit Service, and the architects, consultants, and contractors who contributed to the successful completion of the office complex.

KfW Portfolio Manager Viktoria Kowarzik highlighted the importance of strengthening the Audit Service’s capacity to enhance accountability in public finance and foster economic growth. She also reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting Ghana in promoting transparent governance.

Auditor-General Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu praised the new facility as a testament to the government’s vision and a legacy that would positively impact the Audit Service’s future. Volta Regional Auditor Moses Ahiatsi expressed his satisfaction, noting that the spacious new building would significantly improve the auditing of public accounts.
