Renowned Ghanaian actress Ama K. Abebrese opened up about the struggles actors face in the industry. In an interview with Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime’s Changes, Abebrese emphasized that acting requires resilience due to the numerous challenges and disappointments.
“Acting can be incredibly disappointing, regardless of your location,” Abebrese noted. “You may audition multiple times, only to be rejected. It’s essential to develop a thick skin, as the constant rejection can feel personal.”
Abebrese revealed that she has attended more auditions than the number of movies she has appeared in throughout her career. Despite losing over 20 roles in the past year, she persists, using each experience to refine her skills.
“I don’t take rejection personally,” she said. “Sometimes, it simply means the role wasn’t meant for me. When I see who got the part, I understand why I wasn’t chosen.”
With a filmography of around 20 impactful movies, Abebrese prioritizes quality over quantity. Her notable roles include:
