Turkish Defence Attaché Colonel Pakis Visits Ghana Navy to Boost Maritime Cooperation

The newly appointed Turkish Defence Attaché to Ghana, Colonel Ahmet Pakis, paid a courtesy call to the Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu, at the Naval Headquarters on Wednesday, 25th September 2024.

During the visit, Col Pakis reiterated his commitment to enhancing maritime cooperation and training initiatives between Turkey and the Ghana Navy. He expressed a strong desire to deepen bilateral relations, particularly in areas that would strengthen maritime security and operational efficiency.

Rear Admiral Yakubu, in turn, expressed gratitude for the visit and encouraged further collaboration, especially in creating opportunities for Ghana Navy officers to receive advanced training in Turkey. He underscored the significance of such programs, noting, “Specialised training is key to equipping our personnel with the skills needed to tackle modern maritime threats. Investing in our officers’ expertise is essential to securing our territorial waters.”

The visit marks a positive step toward strengthening the partnership between the two nations in maritime defence.
