Mr Haruna Rashid, the Agona West National Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Nasara Coordinator, is fighting for his life with three others after being shot during a campaign clash in Agona Nyarkrom in the Central Region.

The incident occurred around 9 pm yesterday while Mr Rashid was traveling with the convoy of Agona West NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Mr Chris Arthur.

According to police sources, the clash erupted when supporters of Chris Arthur and rival candidate Cynthia Morrison crossed paths while campaigning in the same area.

The tensions escalated when Mr Arthur’s convoy encountered a roadblock allegedly set up by Morrison’s supporters.

As the convoy attempted to turn away, shots were fired, and Rashid was struck in the ribs.

Chris Arthur recounted the incident, describing how unidentified individuals poured alcohol on their driver, causing him to lose control, before two men approached and shot Rashid.

Mr Rashid was initially rushed to the Agona Swedru Municipal Hospital and has since been transferred to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

Alhaji Jibri Tanko, the Agona West NPP Constituency Chairman, has condemned the violence, and warned supporters to avoid intimidation.

“We will not allow anyone to intimidate us in this election,” he stated firmly.

Two supporters from Cynthia Morrison’s camp were also injured by gunfire and are receiving treatment at the Agona Nyarkrom Health Center as investigations continue.
