Mahama to Scrap Import Duty on Vehicles & Equipment for Industrial and Agricultural Purposes in 1st 100 Days.
In a bid to alleviate hardships and ease the high cost of doing business in ghana, President John Dramani Mahama has promised to scrap four taxes, including import duty on selected vehicles, within his first 100 days in office.

According to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2024 Manifesto, the taxes to be scrapped are the E-levy, COVID levy, 10% levy on bet winnings, emissions levy, and import duty on vehicles and equipment imported into the country for industrial and agricultural purposes.

The manifesto emphasized that these taxes are “draconian” and will be scrapped within Mahama’s first 100 days as President. Additionally, the President promised to rationalize import duties, fees, and charges to reduce the cost of doing business.

To promote good governance, Mahama has also promised to roll out 11 actions, including scrapping the payment of ex gratia, engaging stakeholders to review the regulatory framework for political party financing, and reviewing the policy on providing official housing for political appointees.
