In a significant development, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially declared former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, wanted. This follows last week’s announcement labeling him a fugitive. The OSP made the public notice on its official Facebook page on Monday, February 17, 2025, seeking assistance from the public to locate his whereabouts.

According to the OSP, Ken Ofori-Atta is wanted in connection with ongoing investigations into several high-profile cases, including:

  1. The Loss Reduction Contract between ECG and Beijing Jao: This contract was aimed at reducing power losses but has come under scrutiny for alleged irregularities.
  2. Procurement Over the National Cathedral: Questions have been raised regarding procurement processes and expenditures related to the construction of the National Cathedral.
  3. Contracts Awarded by the Health Ministry to Service Ghana Auto Limited/Ambulances: Investigations are ongoing into the nature and execution of these contracts.
  4. The SML-GRA Deal: The contract involving SML and the Ghana Revenue Authority is also under investigation for potential improprieties.

The OSP’s Facebook post emphasized the importance of public cooperation, urging anyone with information about Ofori-Atta’s location to come forward. This move highlights the agency’s commitment to ensuring accountability and transparency in public office.

This case marks a significant moment in Ghana’s fight against corruption and public sector misconduct. As the investigation unfolds, the public and political stakeholders are keenly watching the OSP’s next steps.

The OSP’s call for public assistance underscores the gravity of the matter, signaling that no individual, regardless of their status or position, is above the law. The outcome of this case could set a precedent for how high-profile corruption cases are handled in Ghana in the future.

Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops.
