NPP Must Clarify Alleged Constitutional Breach by President Mahama – Victor Adawudu Demands Answers.

In a strong-worded statement, Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu, a leading member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) legal team, has called on the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to clearly state which aspect of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution President John Dramani Mahama has allegedly violated.

His demand comes in response to an announcement by the NPP of a planned demonstration against President Mahama, whom they accuse of constitutional infractions. Mr. Adawudu, however, insists that the opposition must back its claims with clear legal justification.

“The NPP should tell us which part of the Constitution President Mahama has breached, for which they are embarking on a demonstration,” Adawudu stated firmly during an interview.

He stressed that in a constitutional democracy, such as Ghana, political actions must be guided by law and due process. “You don’t just organise protests against a sitting president without pointing to any specific provision he has flouted. That’s not how a constitutional democracy works,” he asserted.

Mr. Adawudu further criticized what he described as the NPP’s “politics of distraction,” arguing that demonstrations based on vague or unfounded allegations only serve to divert attention from more pressing national development issues.

He urged the opposition to focus on constructive political engagement and hold the government accountable through legitimate parliamentary and legal channels, rather than resorting to politically charged protests.

The statement has sparked further public debate, with many political observers calling for calm and urging all parties to operate within the bounds of the law as Ghana moves forward under the leadership of President Mahama.

With tensions simmering, all eyes are now on the NPP for a response. Will they identify a specific constitutional breach or is this demonstration simply political posturing?
