Minority Rejects Mahama’s Vindication, Petitions CHRAJ, OSP and CID to Probe Dollar Saga Issue.

The Minority Caucus in Parliament have sent a petition to the Criminal Investigative Department of the Ghana Police Service, the Commission on Human Right and Administrative Justice (CHRAG) and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to probe further into issues surrounding the acting Chief Executive Officer for the Ghana GoldBoard (GoldBod) Sammy Gyamfi’s dollar gift to controversial Patricia Oduro (Agradaa).

This appeal comes after President Mahama’s vindication of the NDC Communications leader’s act. The president through the Minister of Communications, Felix Ofosu Kwakye on May 14 announced that Sammy Gyamfi did not default the recently launched code of conduct through his kind gesture to Agraada.

Felix Ofosu Kwakye added that Sammy Gyamfi’s immediate apology to the state for his actions was enough and there was no need for further repercussions directed towards him.

However the minority in parliament are strongly against this pronouncement. They believe Mr. Gyamfi has flouted Section 1.2 of the code of conduct which mandates government appointees to manage their personal affairs in the highest level of public scrutiny thereby upholding their integrity and reputation.

The Minority has dismissed the President’s conclusion and are calling on the aforementioned three independent bodies for further scrutiny.

Sammy Gyamfi in a viral video was seen gift Agradaa an undisclosed amount of dollars notes in his car. Due to intense public discourse the video sparked, the acting CEO of GoldBod apologised for his act. In a developing angle, Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah summoned and reprimanded Sammy Gyamfi for his action.

In conclusion, reports have indicated that the CID, OSP and CHRAJ have accepted Minoritys petition and will soon work on scrutinizing the issues surrounding the dollar saga.
