In a bold and heartfelt message to Ghanaians and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), former Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has officially announced his intention to contest for the flagbearer position of the NPP, once nominations are formally opened by the party.
In a video circulating widely on social media, Dr. Adutwum made the declaration with what he described as “humility, conviction, and a resolute heart.” The respected educationist and policy reformer expressed his readiness to lead the NPP into the next phase of national development, promising to build on the foundation laid by his predecessors while introducing bold new ideas to transform Ghana.
“With humility, conviction, and a resolute heart, I, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, declare my intent to run for the Flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), should nominations be officially opened by the party,” he stated.
Known for his commitment to educational transformation, Dr. Adutwum has served in key leadership roles, both in Ghana and abroad. His work in reforming the country’s education sector, particularly through the implementation and expansion of the Free SHS policy, has earned him national recognition.
Political analysts see his entrance into the race as a significant development in the internal contest for the party’s leadership, especially as the NPP prepares to come into power.
Party insiders say Dr. Adutwum enjoys considerable grassroots support and is seen by many as a bridge between the technocratic wing of the party and its political base.
