Parliament of Ghana will commence sitting on Mondays and Saturdays effective today July 7, 2025.
The announcement made by Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga on the floor of parliament indicated that the two additional days will enable for the effective deliberation on some legislative instruments before the house adjourns indefinitely.
Highlighting the business activities for the ending of the seventh week, July 12 Mr. Ayariga indicated that the house should be expectant of 55 ministers and the governor of the Bank of Ghana, Johnson Asiama for questioning.
He again announced that the floor will see the introduction of bills for the first time however urgent bills may go through various stages in accordance to the Standing Order 160.
“Motions may be debated and their consequential Resolutions, if any, taken during the week. In accordance with Standing Order 216(2) and subject to Standing Order 67, the Committee submits to the House, the order in which the business shall be taken” he stated.
Per this announcement, the parliament is required to hold a sitting at 2pm today Monday, July 7, 2025 to deliberate on issues of national interest.
Reacting to the announcement made by the Majority Leader, Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has required that the EC chairperson be brought before the house to respond to questions regarding the rerun of the Ablekuma North Constituency elections which has been scheduled for Friday, July 11, 2025.
