Here are the crucial numbers every Ghanaian should know:

  1. Ghana Police Service – 191 When to call?
    When there is a crime, a crime is being committed, or when there is a need to maintain law and order. Call 191 in cases of theft, other forms of voilence and lawlessness against the state.

    In the event of a fire, rescue situations, or other emergencies. (fire outbreak indoors and outdoors )

In threatened life situations such as; such as in cases of serious road traffic accidents, strokes, or heart attacks etc.

  1. National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO)- 0299350030 When to call?
    In events of a disaster or emergency situation that requires immediate government assistance. (floods, Earthquakes, Explosions etc)

A swift call should be made to NADMO when the emergency situation is beyond the capabilities of the local government authorities.

  1. Emergency Response Center by GIFEC- 112

For easy accessibility and simplicity sake, the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC) introduced 112 as a general contact to accessing all emergency services listed above. Dailing 112 connects an individual to any emergency services in time of dire need.

Always remember to make these numbers the first point of call in emergency situations in order to save lives.
