Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu has called on the Indonesian Republic to establish an islamic medical university specifically in the the Northern parts of Ghana.
According to the minister, the institution of the Islamic medical university will help foster educational ties between both countries whiles bridging the developmental gaps between the nothern and southern parts of Ghana.
This appeal was made during the Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Ghana, Paskal A.B. Rois’ visit to Haruna Iddrisu in Accra. The visit was aimed at briefing the minister on scholarship opportunities readily available in Indonesia.
In essence, the minister added that the establishment of a medical institution in the
Northern parts of the country will counter the shortage of medical doctors in the Northern rural parts of the country.
Mr. Rois in response to the education minister’s appeal promises to relay and discuss the proposal to relevant authorities in Indonesia. He further congratulated the Mr. Iddrisu on his new role as education minister.
Significantly, the consul tabled the Indonesia’s KNB Scholarship which is currently open for application by students in developing countries. He also hinted on other scholarships available in over 30 Indonesian universities.
Whilst the consul is optimistic that the minister will leverage on the opportunity to foster collaboration between the new countries, Mr. Iddrisu is also positive that his appeal would be taken into consideration to see the establishment of the Islamic Medical University come to light.
