Keche Joshua Criticizes Graphic Showbiz for Comparing Sarkodie to Rap Legends

By Kekeli K. Blamey

Keche Joshua, a member of the music duo Keche, has voiced his strong disapproval of Graphic Showbiz’s decision to crown Sarkodie as the greatest Ghanaian rapper of all time, surpassing legendary figures such as Lord Kenya, Obrafour, and Reggie Rockstone.

During an appearance on UTV’s United Showbiz, Joshua argued that it is disrespectful to compare Sarkodie to these rap icons, who have significantly contributed to the genre and paved the way for artists like Sarkodie.

While acknowledging Sarkodie’s success and consistency, Joshua emphasized that such comparisons diminish the efforts and contributions of the industry’s pioneers.

“Comparing Sarkodie to Lord Kenya, Obrafour, and Reggie Rockstone is so wrong and disrespectful,” Joshua stated. “Even Sarkodie himself would not be happy about it because he respects and appreciates these legends so much.”

Joshua believes that these comparisons undermine the achievements of the trailblazers and may lead young artists to discredit the legends who paved the way for them. He stressed the importance of competition in the industry, but also the need to recognize and honor the accomplishments of its pioneers.

Joshua’s comments have ignited a debate within the music industry, with some supporting his view and others asserting that Sarkodie’s achievements merit recognition as one of Ghana’s greatest rappers.

This ongoing conversation underscores the importance of acknowledging the contributions of industry pioneers while also celebrating the successes of contemporary artistes
