Adidome, July 23, 2024 – The youth and elders of Mafi Adzasika in the Central Tongu district of the Volta Region have undertaken a significant clean-up exercise at the Adidome Police Station, aiming to promote environmental cleanliness and foster a positive relationship with the security services.

The community came together to weed bushes, clear debris, and ensure a hygienic atmosphere around the police station. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the community to promote environmental cleanliness and civic responsibility.

The clean-up exercise was also seen as an opportunity to build bridges between the youth of Mafi Adzasika and the security services. Leading the initiative was Mr. Selasi Gozey, the Unit Committee Chairman of Mafi-Agoe, who emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean environment.

“We recognize the critical role the police play in maintaining law and order in our community, and we want to ensure that their working environment is conducive to their duties,” Mr. Gozey explained. “By cleaning up the police station, we are not only promoting hygiene but also showing our appreciation for their services.”

Mr. Gaskoni Dotsey, one of the youth leaders, noted that the exercise would help create a sense of ownership and responsibility among community members. “We want to demonstrate that we are committed to supporting the police in any way we can,” Mr. Dotsey said. He mentioned that the exercise would build trust and ensure that their community was safe and secure.

He added, “The exercise is expected to be a regular occurrence, with the community committed to supporting the police service in maintaining a clean and secure environment.”

The police authorities expressed their gratitude to the community for the initiative and acknowledged that a clean and safe environment is essential for effective policing.

The Mafi Adzasika community has pledged to continue supporting the police service and other public institutions in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
