President-elect John Mahama has strongly condemned the recent attacks on state offices and installations, calling for swift action against those responsible.
In a statement, Mahama urged the youth to refrain from venting their frustrations through violence, emphasizing the need to focus on rebuilding the nation.
Mahama attributed the attacks to the perceived power vacuum that often accompanies transitions from one administration to another.
“Transitions from one administration to another can sometimes create a sense of power vacuum, leading some individuals to act out of their own interests,” he said.
“These attacks must cease immediately.”
The President-elect appealed to all citizens to remain calm and avoid actions that could harm the country’s institutions and democracy.
He called for unity and collective efforts to build a stronger Ghana, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the country’s democratic credentials during the transition period.
Mahama also urged the current administration and security agencies to take decisive action to restore order and halt the lawlessness.
“State power remains firmly in the hands of the current administration,” he said, “and I call on the government and security services to act decisively to curb lawlessness.”
