President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has inspected the progress of the Suame Interchange Project in Kumasi, signaling the government’s commitment to infrastructure development.

The €140 million project, which is being executed in two phases, aims to alleviate traffic congestion, reduce travel time, and enhance road safety by decreasing the incidence of accidents.

Accompanied by Mr. Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Minister for Roads and Highways, and officials from the Ghana Highways Authority, President Akufo-Addo was briefed on the progress by the contractors, Rango Construction. The contractors walked the President through the completed work and outlined the challenges they are facing, including inadequate funds for compensating affected structures and relocating utility lines along the project corridor.

Despite these challenges, the contractors assured the President that the project would be completed within the stipulated contract duration.

The first phase of the project comprises the construction of a four-tier interchange at Suame, an overpass at Krofrom Junction, an underpass at Abrepo Junction, and the widening of sections of the ring road. The second phase will include the construction of overpasses at Anomangye Junction, Magazine New Road Junction, and Abusuakruwa Junction, as well as 15 kilometers of local road improvements and the expansion of the Offinso Road into a three-lane dual carriageway.

President Akufo-Addo’s inspection of the project underscores his administration’s dedication to enhancing the country’s infrastructure and improving the quality of life for Ghanaians.

The Suame Interchange Project is anticipated to have a substantial impact on the region’s economy and transportation network, significantly benefiting local communities and businesses.
