Veteran Nigerian actor and African screen legend, Pete Edochie, has paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, during his visit to Ghana.

The visit forms part of Pete Edochie’s activities in Ghana as he launches the African Legacy Project, an initiative designed to celebrate Africa’s heritage while inspiring and empowering the continent’s younger generation.

The African Legacy Project comprises a book, a documentary film and an African Youth Mentorship Initiative, which is expected to reach approximately 500,000 young people across Africa.

During the meeting, Sammy Gyamfi welcomed the opportunity for GoldBod to support the youth mentorship component of the project. The initiative aligns with GoldBod’s Special Intervention Programme, which focuses on social impact, youth development and economic empowerment.

The collaboration is expected to provide opportunities for young Africans to gain mentorship, knowledge and guidance as they prepare to contribute to the development of their communities and the continent as a whole.

Pete Edochie’s new book also references the work of GoldBod, particularly Ghana’s efforts to ensure that the country’s gold resources contribute more directly to national development.

The engagement between the veteran actor and the GoldBod CEO therefore highlights the growing connection between Africa’s creative industry, youth development and economic empowerment.

Through the African Legacy Project, Pete Edochie is seeking to use storytelling, mentorship and knowledge-sharing to inspire a new generation of Africans to appreciate the continent’s heritage while taking an active role in shaping its future.

The initiative, together with GoldBod’s social intervention efforts, underscores the importance of partnerships that combine cultural influence, mentorship and economic opportunities to support young people across Africa.
