By: Deborah Amewoyi

The Supreme Court in accordance to Article 132 of the 1992 constitution  to resort to supervisory jurisdiction has revoked the Electoral Commission’s (EC) re-collation of votes in four constituencies.

The re- collation of votes for Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, Tema Central, and Techiman South has been quashed reinstating the wins of the National Democratic Congress whilst questioning the credibility and integrity of the Electoral Commission.

The Supreme Court interpreted that the EC’s re-collation for the four constituencies had irregularities and legal issues which needed to be addressed hence its declaration.

Meanwhile, the EC had previously assured the entire citizenry of its transparency, stating that the re-collation of results after the declaration of results is not a new practice.
