President John Dramani Mahama has announced the first set of ministerial nominees as part of his administration’s efforts to fulfill its mandate. The announcement, made through a press release from the Presidency Communications Office, outlined the names and profiles of three distinguished individuals nominated for key ministerial roles.
The nominations, submitted to Parliament in line with Article 78 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, include the following:
- Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson – Minister for Finance (Designate)
- Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor – Minister for Energy (Designate)
- Hon. Dominic Akuritenga Ayine – Attorney-General and Minister for Justice (Designate)
Profiles of the Nominees
Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson
Dr. Forson is an accomplished economist, chartered accountant, and tax practitioner with a wealth of experience in public finance, macroeconomics, and fiscal policy. A seasoned five-term lawmaker, he has contributed significantly to national development through various roles in public office.
Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor
With extensive experience in energy economics and policy, Hon. Jinapor is well-positioned to drive innovation and transformation in Ghana’s energy sector. He has previously held strategic roles within government, showcasing a deep understanding of the energy portfolio.
Hon. Dr. Dominic Akuritenga Ayine
Dr. Ayine is a senior legal expert with over three decades of professional practice. A former Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, he has a strong background in constitutional law, legal reform, and governance.
The nominees possess a strong combination of academic credentials, professional experience, and practical skills in their roles. President Mahama expressed confidence in their capability to implement essential reforms and tackle significant national issues in finance, energy, and justice.
