Gov’t Embarks on 5- Days Talk With IMF.

The ministry of finance and other governmental stakeholders have since yesterday, February 10 started engaging officials from the International Monetary Fund over key policies and decisions that would inform the 2025 budget.

The IMF team led by the Mission Chief for Ghana, Stephane Roudet will be discussing issues relating to “administration reforms, the energy sector reforms, expenditure rationalisation, and monetary and exchange rate policy” in the country.

Meanwhile, the government have primarily indicated that it would scrap off some taxes; including the e-levy tax, covid levy tax and betting taxes introduced by the previous government to alleviate some financial burden on the taxpayers.

Hence, the five – days engagement will particularly geared towards Ghana’s progress under the IMF-supported Programme and policy direction of government on the 2025 Budget.

The Government of Ghana has assured the public of its commitment to macroeconomic stability, job creation, and improved livelihoods for the people.

Again, it is hoping build a stable economic environment, reduce unemployment, and enhance the overall quality of life for citizens through its engagements with the IMF. The five days talk with the IMF will end on Friday, February 14, 2025.
