Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene has made some undisclosed amount of cash donations to victims of the recent Odumase fire explosion near Konongo in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality.
The explosion which occurred during the late hours of Wednesday March 5 have destroyed several homes and properties in the vicinity. Reports have indicated that the explosion resulted into 3 fatalities and a number of individuals injured or hospitalized.
Addressing the situation during his visit, the Ashanti regional minister confirmed that the explosion was initiated due to illegal vending of explosives (dynamites) at home.
“Beyond financial support, I have instructed NADMO to mobilize emergency relief efforts for affected individuals and families.” the minister added.
He further revealed that security agencies are investigating the cause of the explosion and will bring perpetrators to book. “No arrests have been made yet. I am told that the people operating the shop have fled, but the police are investigating seriously. We must ensure that such incidents do not happen again” he added.
