Kumasi High Court Acquits and Discharges Juabeng MCE Nominee.

The Kumasi High Court has acquitted and discharged Municipal Chief Executive Nominee for Juabeng Constituency, Alexander Kwabena Sarfo – Kantaka over bribery allegations in a viral video seen in 2022.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in an official facebok post on Monday May, 26 announced the outcome of the proceedings. The OSP indicated that the court, presided over by, Justice Priscilla Dikro Ofori ruled in favor Mr. Sarfo – Kantaka.

Per the video evidence leveled against the accused, the court has indicated that no portion of the video indicated that the money Mr. Sarfo – Kantaka was demanding was intended to influence the votes of assembly members hence his acquittal.

During former president Nana Akufo-Addo’s tenure as president, his MCE nominee Mr. Sarfo – Kantaka was spotted in the a viral video demanding refund of monies allegedly paid to assembly members to secure confirmation of his nomination.

Alexander Kwabena Sarfo – Kantaka since 2022 has been facing 26 counts of corruption in relation to a public election.

However in a subsequent facebook post, the OSP listed the the progress of his case since it’s inception in September 2021. The Republic vs Alexander Sarfo – Kantanka case lasted for an entire period of 2 years, 11 months until he has finally been acquitted and discharged today May, 26.

The High Court in Kumasi has acquitted and discharged Alexander Kwabena Sarfo-Kantanka, President Akufo-Addo’s nominee for Juaben Municipal Chief Executive in the Ashanti Region. He had been facing 26 counts of corruption in relation to a public election since May 2022.

Mr Sarfo-Kantanka appeared in a viral video allegedly demanding the return of monies he reportedly paid to assembly members to secure confirmation of his nomination.

However, in her judgement, Justice Priscilla Dikro Ofori held that the video did not establish that the monies were intended to influence the votes of the assembly members.
