The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, has taken a significant step toward transforming the tourism landscape of the Central Region with plans to construct an artificial waterfall in Gomoa.According to the MP, the initiative aimed at enhancing local tourism and stimulating economic growth has already attracted strong professional backing. Following his public announcement of the project, a multidisciplinary group known as the Architectural Alliance reached out to offer technical expertise and support.
In a recent update shared on his Facebook page, Mr. Obeng revealed that he, together with members of the Architectural Alliance, conducted a site visit to begin preliminary feasibility studies. He described the outcome of the assessment as highly encouraging, noting that the team expressed confidence in both the viability and achievability of the proposed development.
The Architectural Alliance brings together a wide range of professionals, including architects, lawyers, quantity surveyors, structural and mechanical engineers, project managers, and hydraulic specialists. This diverse pool of expertise is expected to ensure the successful execution of the ambitious project.
A notable highlight of the initiative is the leadership behind the technical team. The Alliance is headed by two Ghanaian women Ewurama Ocran and Babbie who serve as President and Vice President respectively. Their involvement underscores the growing role of women in leading major infrastructure and development projects in Ghana.
Mr. Obeng expressed optimism about the project timeline, stating that, by the grace of God, the Gomoa Waterfalls will be completed and ready for commissioning by John Dramani Mahama during the Gomoa Easter Festival in 2027.
The proposed artificial waterfall is expected to become a major attraction, drawing visitors to the area, creating jobs, and boosting local businesses. If successfully delivered, it could mark a new chapter in the Central Region’s tourism development strategy, positioning Gomoa as a key destination on Ghana’s tourism map.
