Ghanaian actress, Clara Benson popularly referred to as Maame Serwaa has revealed that she had suicidal thoughts after the death of her mother in 2017.
During an interview with Emelia Brobbey on her Okukuseku talk show, the actress revealed that she was blamed for her mother’s death. “I was pained when people accused me of my mother’s death…I felt really bad.” she revealed.
She further revealed her intentions to commit suicide due to the allegations and hostility directed towards her. “I tried to harm myself on so many occasions. I felt that I had lost something and I needed consolation.
Additionally, the actress announced that her mobile phone was seized in order to protect her from hate speeches directed towards on social media.
The actress’ revelation serves as a reminder to the public about the need to be empathetic emphasizing on how social media hate speeches can lead to severe mental health issues.
Maame Serwaa started acting at the age of 6 and has since won numerous awards for her incredible role play in the Ghanaian movie industry.
